“Redhall Nuclear builds upon the long histories and reputations of Jordan Nuclear, Steels Engineering Services and Chieftain Insulation.”
Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality
Currently 4.8 million hours Lost Time Accident Free.
We employ dedicated full-time Safety Advisors who are responsible for providing advice and guidance on all aspects of safety and training. Their roles extend into the construction environment, where they provide hands-on support, monitoring health and safety performance in the workplace.
Redhall Nuclear’s positive attitude towards health and safety performance is recognised by the industry. Our Decommissioning and Waste Management Division (formerly Jordan Nuclear) received the prestigious RoSPA President’s Award for Occupational Safety, marking over ten consecutive years of Gold Awards.
In addition, our Defence Division (formerly Steels Engineering) has not only received RoSPA Gold Awards for the last seven years, but has also been presented with the ECIA Safe Working Award and the AWE ‘Contractor of the Year’.
All our operational personnel carry the appropriate qualifications to work within the challenging environments of the nuclear sector, including radiological controlled areas. Over a quarter of our workforce has achieved the necessary clearance to work in high security areas, giving us the flexibility and responsiveness to instantly deploy resources to meet our clients’ requirements.
The health and welfare of our employees is of prime importance. For example, all of our classified radiation workers undergo routine monitoring and health assessments. Our trained Radiation Protection Supervisors provide operational employees with full training and advice to support them in their day-to-day work, as well as assisting in the process of carrying out workplace risk assessments.
Redhall Nuclear has now completed just over four million man hours since the last reportable lost time accident. We recognise the potential impact of our operations on the wider environment. Accordingly, we strive to minimise the impact through good engineering practices, detailed design and adherence to regulation. We have also established ourselves as a key supplier of statutory environmental monitoring installations that are designed to sample stack discharges and provide evidence of compliance with airborne discharge consents.
Quality control is a high priority for Redhall Nuclear. We work in accordance with the BS EN ISO 9001 (2008) quality assurance system to ensure that all the projects we undertake are delivered to the highest standards possible. This enables us to offer plant and equipment, pipework systems and other products to the exacting QA standards demanded by the nuclear industry.
Our positive safety culture is characterised by communications that are founded on mutual trust and a shared perception of the importance of safety, as well as confidence in the efficacy of preventative measures.
